Make breakfast a little more fun with a build-your-own overnight oats setup that lets everyone create a jar exactly the way they like it. Start with a simple base of oats, milk, yogurt, honey, cinnamon, then set out a colorful selection of mix-ins for everyone to customize their own combination. Prep the jars the night before, pop them in the fridge, and breakfast is ready to grab and go the next morning.

Base ingredients (per jar):

  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • ¼ cup yogurt
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Choose your own mix-ins (set out 4-5 options in small bowls):

  • Frozen berries or diced banana
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Peanut butter or Nutella swirl
  • Granola or crushed graham crackers
  • Chia seeds or sprinkles

Steps:

  1. Layer oats, milk, yogurt, honey, and cinnamon in a jar or container with a lid.
  2. Set out the mix-in bowls “toppings bar” style and let everyone build their own combination on top.
  3. Seal and refrigerate overnight (up to 4 days).
  4. Stir and eat cold, or warm for 60 seconds in the microwave if it’s a cold morning.
